North Dakota Birding - June 2010
I spent a week in North Dakota visiting National Wildlife Refuges and attending the Potholes & Prairies Birding Festival in early June 2010. This gallery features the birds and other wildlife that were abundant in the wildlife refuges and in the many small ponds, lakes, wetlands, and prairies that are easily accessible from public roads across North Dakota. They refer to the thousands of small to large lakes formed by receding glaciers as potholes. These potholes are prime breeding grounds for waterfowl and the pothole area is known as the "Duck Factory". I included some scenery photographs that capture some of the rural scenery of North Dakota. North Dakota is a beautiful state in the month of June. I hope you enjoy my photographs.
